Education Ministry Halts Formation of Governing Bodies in MPO-Listed Schools Following Court Order

The Ministry of Education has issued a directive to suspend all activities related to the formation of management committees (governing bodies) in MPO-listed secondary and higher secondary educational institutions.

The information was released yesterday (Thursday) through an official order signed by Syed AZ Morshed Ali, Deputy Secretary (Non-Government Secondary-1) of the Ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division.

The Reason: High Court Intervention

The order states that in response to a Writ Petition filed with the High Court Division, an order was issued on October 21st to stay for three months the Ministry’s circular that was issued on September 8th

The Directive: “In this situation, it is directed that no new activities should be undertaken based on this circular until further instructions are issued.”

Background of the Legal Dispute

The High Court’s order on October 21st specifically suspended the Ministry’s initial circular, which mandated two key deadlines:

1. The formation of new management committees in non-government educational institutions by November 30th of the current year.

2. The automatic dissolution of all existing ad-hoc committees starting December 1st.

The Ministry’s latest instruction effectively freezes the entire process, pending the outcome of the legal challenge or subsequent government directives.
